چکیده
This study aims to detect the impact of preexfoliation corrosion on efficiency 2 mm thick 2024-T3 aluminum alloy friction stir spot welded (FSSW) joints. Five specimens FSSW joints, with 620 r·min−1 rotational speed and a dwell time 10 seconds, were immersed in an exfoliation solution for five different times: h, 20 30 40 50 h. The tensile shear load noncorroded joint was 3.5 kN. results showed that degradation mechanical properties increased increasing exposure time, drop reached 62% exposed h corroded solution. As AA joints exhibited nugget debonding failure mode mixed-mode tensile-shear fracture, specimens, only fracture could be seen. attributed reduction bonding area between upper lower sheets due corrosion.

متن کاملFatigue of Friction Stir Welded 2024-T351 Aluminium Alloy
Fatigue failure characteristics of friction stir welds in 13mm gauge 2024-T351 plate have been assessed. Failure occurred from either the weld region (nugget/flow arm) or from the material immediately surrounding the weld. Fatigue failure from the surrounding material was essentially conventional, initiating from large S-phase intermetallic particles and growing in a macroscopic mode I manner. ...
متن کاملThe effect of Zn element addition on dissimilar Al6061/AZ31 friction stir welded joints
In this study, friction stir butt welding of Mg and Al alloys with applying Zn interlayer was performed. To obtain optimum condition, a combination of two travel and three rotation speeds were selected. Mg-Zn and Mg-Al-Zn IMCs, Al solid solution and residual Zn, were the most common phases in the stirred zone, which eliminated the formation of Al-Mg intermetallics. The maximum mechanical proper...
